It’s JULY!

July is one of my favourite months of the year. Even though I am not a real hot weather person I love July. The first month of summer vacation as a kid. Those long lazy days of watching for shapes in the clouds and eating ice cream. I played for hours in my sand box that my dad built for me under a tree so I was in the shade. I rode my bicycle throughout the neighbourhood and was confident that if I were to misbehave someone would call my mom and let her know before I even got home. It’s different now, I don’t get to laze my days away. I don’t live in that small town where a kid was raised by the whole neighbourhood and I don’t spend time laying in the grass watching the clouds. I still do eat some ice cream and still ride a bicycle—though it doesn’t have high handlebars with a banana seat!

I do love July because so many place celebrate Christmas in July. I love that. Christmas movies are on TV, I think about getting a good start on my Christmas present making. When our kids were younger I had at least 50% of my shopping for Christmas done by now—that was more of a budget thing though. I enjoy my air conditioning and sew away.

Are you planning to make any Christmas presents this year? Have you go them started? Will you be one of those people sewing until last minute? I have to make my list and check it twice. I hope to have many of my gifts made before fall hits. Cross your fingers for me.

I’ve also been grounded a bit right now. I hurt my knee during Quilt Canada and have been struggling with it since then. I’ve had a Dr’s appointment and some x-rays. For now I’ve been ordered to keep it quiet and still for a few days to let the swelling go down, then I’ll head get a bit of physio and hopefully that will get me back on my bicycle!

Enjoy your July !

I rode my bicycle to the park to have a picnic with friends…you can see my bike in the background. Of course I have a quilt to lay on the ground.
